At the Tenth Anniversary celebration of the Foundation held at Drinker Biddle’s event space in its Washington, D.C. office, Matthew Roberts, a Director of the Barbara McDowell Foundation, friend of Barbara’s and her colleague at the United States Justice Department’s Solicitor General’s Office, talked briefly about Barbara’s work at the Solicitor General’s office and read remarks of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, who had sent the following to be read at the event:
Whether arguing a complex case before the Supreme Court, entertaining a Shakespeare Theatre audience at a moot court, or leading the appellate advocacy endeavors of the Legal Aid Society, Barbara McDowell was an advocate to appreciate and applaud. It is fitting that a Foundation has been established in her memory. I join legions in celebration of the Foundation’s tenth anniversary. May it continue to thrive in its efforts to aid those most in need of caring advocates committed to promoting justice that is equal and accessible to all.
